8", 6" AND 4.5 " TELESCOPE MIRRORS ( 4 )

Coulter Optical® is one of the oldest and best known names in telescope optics. All Coulter mirrors are made from the highest quality precision annealed optical glass, then expertly hand- figured to a surface accuracy of at least 1/8 wave. The finished mirrors are then precision coated with reflective aluminum and overcoated with hard, durable, clear silicon monoxide. These are the same fine mirrors we used in our famous Odyssey® telescopes!

Every mirror size that we sell is available in the following ways: As matched mirror sets with one Parabolic Primary and one Elliptical Secondary Mirror or they are available as the Primary Mirror only or the Secondary Mirror only.


4.5 inch F/8 Mirror Set, Primary Mirror, Secondary Mirror

Here's an affordable, capable mirror set that's perfect for a first telescope, a school science fair project or experimentation. Made from precision annealed soda-lime glass. Hand-figured, then coated with 86% reflective aluminum and overcoated with clear silicon monoxide for durability. Set comes with a 1.0 inch M.A. secondary mirror.

6 inch F/8 Mirror Set, Primary Mirror, Secondary Mirror

This is the most common focal length for a 6 inch primary mirror. Gives a reasonably wide field of view, but is still long enough to give good, clear magnification with short local length eyepieces.

Parabolic mirror is made from precision annealed optical glass, hand finished to a surface accuracy of at least 1/8 wave. 86% aluminum coating with SiO overcoat. 1.4 inch M.A. elliptical secondary mirror has same specs.

8 inch f/6 Mirror Set, Primary Mirror, Secondary Mirror

This is the standard focal length for an 8 inch mirror. It gives a reasonably wide field for deep space use, but still delivers decent, distortion-free high magnification for the planets.

Hand figured primary mirror has a surface accuracy of at least 1/8 wave, made from precision annealed optical glass. 86% reflectivity aluminum coating with SiO overcoat. 1.8 inch M.A. elliptical secondary has same optical specs.

Elliptical Diagonal (Secondary) Mirrors

Elliptical diagonal or secondary mirrors used for Newtonian (or Dobsonian) telescopes. These diagonals have the same high quality as our primary mirrors to maximize light transmission and image quality. Most diagonals have a minimum 86 percent reflective coating with SiO overcoat and low expansion glass. Our 1.8, 2.0 and 2.1 sizes have 92% Enhanced Coatings!

Mirrors are measured in inches across the Minor Axis (M.A.) Also used as plano mirrors in optical bench setups. In stock!
